RECLAIMED group show
October 1, 2011
Here are two brand new pieces that will be up at the RECLAIMED group show going down at the River’s Edge Gallery in Wyandotte, Mi on Friday, October 21 curated by the fabulous, amazing Dennis and Christina Jacobs of Perfectlaughter.com. Opening night reception starts at 7pm.
RECLAIMED is a group art show featuring over 30 incredible artists showcasing work created from reclaimed and found objects.
Tax Payroll Holiday material breakdown:
The house is made of bass wood and then painted with acrylic. The roof is made out some old plywood pieces that were just naturally the right size. The pieces were found just sitting out on our front porch. The rocks are scavenged slate from the flowerbeds in our apartment complex. Everything is seated on some 2x4s that were naturally weathered and patinaed for about 9 years from my Pop’s now demolished dock. The background is harvested and layered leaves from the Honey Locust tree in our front yard. The frame was found at the local Salvation Army and repainted. Ironically, the work that was originally in the frame was also of a house.
Copacetic Sprawl material breakdown:
8 houses made from bass wood and painted with acrylic seated on the same 2x4s from my Pop’s removed dock. The trees were made from weeds found in my girlfriend’s parent’s field. The background is masonite spray paint that has been manipulated with lighter fluid and fire.
So as an extra added bonus, Dennis and Christina will soon be posting a behind the scenes, step by step of the creation of Copacetic Sprawl on Perfectlaughter.com (including my favorite part; working with the lighter fluid and fire!)
See ya on the 21st!
